This book is a classic. My husband loves the imagery and the feel of 1920’s culture. So when I rolled Classics in Bookopoly, I knew I had to read it. After having seen the movie, I can honestly say that while this is not a book I LOVE (the movie was better), it might be one of those I can grow to love. Personally, I may purchase it in paperback and read it that way.

It IS beautifully written. But sometimes the verbiage and imagery makes you get lost in the story, to the point where it was semi hard to follow (at least in audio form). However, I did enjoy this book.

Small Summary:

The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s third book, stands as the supreme achievement of his career. This exemplary novel of the Jazz Age has been acclaimed by generations of readers. The story is of the fabulously wealthy Jay Gatsby and his new love for the beautiful Daisy Buchanan, of lavish parties on Long Island at a time when The New York Times noted “gin was the national drink and sex the national obsession,” it is an exquisitely crafted tale of America in the 1920s.
