The Review
I have been a fan of Ruth Ware since Turn of the Key. So I was really anticipating this book!
The Title/Cover Draw:
Looks Ominous! I don’t think either the title or cover influenced picking this book. The author was the biggest draw for me.
What I liked:
There are 2 points of view happening in this book which definitely kept me guessing.
What I didn’t like:
At times the dialogue was repetitive and slow. It made me wish it would go faster. Also they couldn’t stop talking about the company. It was very tedious.
What kept me reading:
I had a suspicion early on who the suspect was and I think I kept reading to make sure I was right. I was.
The Characters:
There are 12 characters. The 2 POV Erin and Liz were sympathetic in their ways. Danny (a host at the cabin) was also likeable. But the other characters were unsympathetic and I didn’t really care what happened to them.
The Ending:
Pretty predictable ending! Although there were some twists, even if they weren’t shocking.
Reminds me of: The Guest List meets And Then There Were None

Small Summary:
Getting snowed in at a beautiful, rustic mountain chalet doesn’t sound like the worst problem in the world, especially when there’s a breathtaking vista, a cozy fire, and company to keep you warm. But what happens when that company is eight of your coworkers…and you can’t trust any of them?
When an off-site company retreat meant to promote mindfulness and collaboration goes utterly wrong when an avalanche hits, the corporate food chain becomes irrelevant and survival trumps togetherness. Come Monday morning, how many members short will the team be?
