The Review

The Title/Cover Draw:

  • I needed a book recommended to me by someone else for a challenge in the book club. I have never read Samantha Downing and heard good things about this thriller.

What I liked:

  • It was fast paced and unfolded very logically before your eyes. But also… sneaky little twists.

What I didn’t like:

  • I kinda guessed part of the ending. But that doesn’t bother me too much. It was really well written and nothing was unnecessarily included so that made up for it.

The Characters:

  • The main character was the perfect humble diversion. Even when he was not always doing something straight forward, you still believed him.

The Ending:

  • I guessed it. But also there was a moment where I had to go back and listen again.

The Narrator:

  • David Pittu narrated this and even at fast speed he was easily understandable. I really enjoyed the book more because of this.

Reminds me of:

  • BA Paris thrillers.

All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Small Summary:

A couple’s fifteen-year marriage has finally gotten too interesting…

Our love story is simple. I met a gorgeous woman. We fell in love. We had kids. We moved to the suburbs. We told each other our biggest dreams, and our darkest secrets. And then we got bored.

We look like a normal couple. We’re your neighbors, the parents of your kid’s friend, the acquaintances you keep meaning to get dinner with.

We all have secrets to keeping a marriage alive.

Ours just happens to be getting away with murder.
