The Review

The Title/Cover Draw:

  • After reading My Lovely Wife, I knew I had to read more by this author. This one was gifted to me to read.

💜 What I liked:

  • The story is woven through journal entries and POV from the main character. Sometimes the narration is in the present and sometimes the past. There are a ton of “blink and you miss it” things in here also. The whole mystery was just so compelling to read.

😱 What I didn’t like:

  • I was really on board with this, about to give it 5 stars. And then…it got weird. Nothing paranormal, but just not in the way I really expected.

💁‍♀️ The Characters:

  • Beth, Portia, and Eddie are recreating a road trip that their Grandfather took them on a decade ago after his death. They are joined by Felix and Krista who are their significant others.

🚦 The Ending:

  • It came out of nowhere and the motivations of some of these characters at this point left me scratching my head. But- it was a really good read and actually stayed with me, which means it was a good book.

💭 Reminds me of:

  • Knives Out Meet Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

All thoughts and opinions are my own.

📘 Summary:

Beth, Portia, and Eddie Morgan haven’t all been together in years. And for very good reasons—we’ll get to those later. But when their wealthy grandfather dies and leaves a cryptic final message in his wake, the siblings and their respective partners must come together for a cross-country road trip to fulfill his final wish and—more importantly—secure their inheritance.

But time with your family can be tough. It is for everyone.

It’s even harder when you’re all keeping secrets and trying to forget a memory—a missing person, an act of revenge, the man in the black truck who won’t stop following your car—and especially when at least one of you is a killer and there’s a body in the trunk. Just to name a few reasons.

But money is a powerful motivator. It is for everyone.
