The Review

The Title/Cover Draw:

  • A lot of people are talking about this book all of a sudden. The cover is GORGEOUS and it seems like the perfect book to read during winter.

What I liked:

  • The mystery element was amazing. I loved how it was an innocent story and told little by little through the eyes of a young boy. At times he was smarter than everyone else. The way the guests in the house were all connected was so great too.

What I didn’t like:

  • Sometimes the story distracted me. For a middle grade book, it took me longer to read than usual.

The Characters:

  • Milo is a cute and precocious boy and his friendship with Meddy is sweet. Even though there were a  lot of characters in the house, it was easy to keep them separated.

The Ending:

  • It really was a perfect ending with answers from the mystery as well as other things to discover. There are a few sequels as well in the same universe I look forward to reading.

Consider if you like:

  • Cozy YA mysteries

All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Small Summary:

It’s wintertime at Greenglass House. The creaky smuggler’s inn is always quiet during this season, and twelve-year-old Milo, the innkeepers’ adopted son, plans to spend his holidays relaxing. But on the first icy night of vacation, out of nowhere, the guest bell rings. Then rings again. And again. Soon Milo’s home is bursting with odd, secretive guests, each one bearing a strange story that is somehow connected to the rambling old house. As objects go missing and tempers flare, Milo and Meddy, the cook’s daughter, must decipher clues and untangle the web of deepening mysteries to discover the truth about Greenglass House—and themselves.
