Holiday Movie Review: Christmas Wedding Planner
Jocelyn Hudon, Stephen Huszar, Kelly Rutherford
Available Streaming on Netflix (2017)
A wedding planner is in the midst of planning her cousin's lavish and exclusive wedding when a devilishly handsome private investigator turns her world upside down.
This was my second viewing of this movie, and each time I think I know something that will be revealed at the end, and then isn’t. It becomes a gaping plot hole. In fact there are a few.
Cast is decent! Kelly Rutherford (Gossip Girl) and Joey Fatone (!) are in this. Joey always cracks me up so I love when he is in movies unexpectedly.
The private investigator (Connor) is revealed to be an Ex of Emily, the bride to be. Kelsey, the main character, lived with Emily, as cousins, since they were small and they regard each other as best friends. So if that were the case, shouldn’t Kelsey have recognized Connor as an Ex when she sees him at the beginning of the movie? Gaping plot point #1.
Everytime Kelsey sees Connor at the restaurant, there are a million photos spread along the table (and they are the same photos each time). Dude, what happened to client privacy?
GAPING PLOT POINT #2 (and this is a spoiler, kind of, so read on at your own risk). Throughout the movie, Kelsey is texting someone. She does it like a diary of sorts, signing off “Love You Muchly”. Later we find out that her mom died and she is “texting her” to feel like she is keeping in contact. So is she texting her mom’s old number? If that is the case, how would she remember it as she is unlikely to have a cell when she is that young (you can tell how old she is when she lives with her aunt in flashbacks)? Who belongs to that number now? I kept expecting someone to text back with some touching message about how her communication changed their life. But nothing.
That being said, there are some reveals still left and it makes for a fun viewing!
