Holiday Movie Review: One Magic Christmas

Mary Steenburgen, Gary Basaraba, Harry Dean Stanton

Available on Disney+

I remember watching this movie a lot on the Disney Channel growing up. I always thought it a little sad. It was definitely a take on It’s A Wonderful Life. However, in this viewing I realized that the pauses between dialogue was far too long which gave the pacing a slow sloggy feel. That being said, the acting is pretty good.

Also- What do the christmas angels do when it’s not christmas (besides sit in a tree with a harmonica)?

Short Synopsis:

Ginny (Mary Steenburgen) has a difficult time mustering Christmas spirit due to her husband Jack's (Gary Basaraba) unemployment and her humble position as a grocery store clerk. With the holiday fast approaching, Ginny and Jack's daughter, Abbie (Elizabeth Harnois), goes to deliver her letter to Santa. On her way, Abbie meets Gideon, an angel intent on saving Christmas from Ginny's poor attitude. With Gideon's magical assistance, Ginny learns how things could be much worse.
