There was a slight struggle with this book. I had heard mixed reviews from various people, and to be completely honest, I almost put it down early on. But I kept at it and ultimately finished it. I think I was really disappointed because I had heard so much about the author and how great she was. But my problem was that it was so predictable, because I am so analytical. Where others were blindsided by the twist, I saw the signs. I’m looking for them after all.

But I am here to say that it was enjoyable even when I did see the twists. Some of the characters turned out to be different than what we thought. However, I am sure most people wouldn’t see it coming. If you have read this book, let me know what you thought!

Small Summary:

Sadie and Will Foust have only just moved their family from bustling Chicago to small-town Maine when their neighbor Morgan Baines is found dead in her home. The murder rocks their tiny coastal island, but no one is more shaken than Sadie.

But it’s not just Morgan’s death that has Sadie on edge. And as the eyes of suspicion turn toward the new family in town, Sadie is drawn deeper into the mystery of what really happened that dark and deadly night. But Sadie must be careful, for the more she discovers about Mrs. Baines, the more she begins to realize just how much she has to lose if the truth ever comes to light.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Received from Netgalley.
