I was given the opportunity to review Andrea Bocelli’s new album, Cinema, which comes out on October 23. My husband, who is a musicphile (is that a word?) listened with me and we both have some amazing feedback.
For me personally, I like all types of music (except maybe rap and hiphop, it’s just not my thing). If I had to pick a genre it would be soundtracks, both broadway and movies/tv. This album falls nicely into that category as it is all music from classic films.
Just to highlight some of the songs:
- Maria (West Side Story)- This was a great way to start the album. It is upbeat and the arrangement is unusual. The song is done in all English which is not the case for most of the music on the album. Don’t let that scare you though, it still sounds amazing!
- E Piu ti Penso (Once Upon A Time in America)- Andrea partners with Ariana Grande. I knew the girl has some pipes but good gracious that girl can sing! This is probably one of my favorite songs on the album and a good reason to give it a listen.
- Brucia La Terra (The Godfather)- This was one of my husbands favorites. The orchestra is smooth and most of all, you feel like you are wisked away to Italy. Or at least New York.
There are a few others that we thought were great, but these are just some of the more interesting ones. If you love to be transported to another time, and orchestral music takes you away, this album just hits the spot. Like I said before, most of the music is not in English but the singing is amazing, and if you know the words in English, just sing along.
Here is a sneak peek of a song from his album:
Cinema includes music from West Side Story, Doctor Zhivago, The Godfather, Evita, Gladiator and many more! Andrea Bocelli is probably one of the world’s most famous tenor and recently sang for the Pope during her visit to America!
Bocelli said the following: “With the album ‘Cinema,’ I’m fulfilling a wish that I’ve harboured for decades. I’ve never made a secret of my dream of bringing to life a recording project associated with soundtracks, as I truly believe that it’s an exceptional artistic treasure trove.
On October 23, Verve Records will release Cinema. On November 27th, Andrea will perform on PBS, singing many of the songs from this album arranged by David Foster.
I hope you will love this album as much as I do! The album will be available on Itunes and Amazon.
Disclaimer: I participated in the Andrea Bocelli “Cinema” album review program as a member of One2One Network. I was provided an album to review but all opinions are my own.
Man, I’ve always loved Bocelli! His voice is very nostalgic for me, but I always enjoy hearing the new stuff he puts out. Glad to hear you and your hubby enjoyed the album!
Also, I tagged you for the Ultimate Harry Potter book tag. Participation is totally optional, of course, but check it out if you life=)
